Back to the Basics

If you have never played before or you play every day everyone can use a little brush up on there rules, and the basics of the game. Here is a quick video produced by the American FootGolf League.

Rules and Governing Body

The least exciting part about this new sport is the rulebook, obviously. Most people don't even read the rules other than just the basics, but the American FootGolf League has adopted the FIFL (Federation for International FootGolf) rulebook.

This is a very extensive and very dry, but if you are going to play in any competitions sponsored by the American FootGolf League or Federation for International FootGolf, you will have to know how to follow the rules of FootGolf.

Everyone likes to get things for free right?

Here is your opportunity to get to play Footgolf for FREE.

On October 24th we are hosting the first ever Cedar Falls Footgolf Championship. The tournament will be played at Walters Ridge in Cedar Falls. There are still plenty of spots available. Your entry of $15 will get you a round of footgolf, a t-shirt and the opportunity to win all sorts of prizes. Now here is the FREE part, we need help designing our T-shirt. The initiative is now on you, go wild, go bold, go simple, or go somewhere in the middle, we will have a vote on October 6th. That means that your submission needs to be in by October 5th at 11:59 PM.

If your design is selected we will pay for your entry fee.

To submit your design you must email it to growinggolfcf@gmail.com, also include your full name, twitter handle, and link to Facebook. This way if you win we can recognize you all over social media.

Cedar Falls Footgolf Championship!

October 24!

It’s official! The Cedar Falls Footgolf Championship is happening! This will be an individual stroke play event, which means you play your own ball all the way through and turn your score in at the end. All sorts of prizes will be available including pin events for long drive, closest to the pin, straight drive, and many more! This will be flighted into many divisions according to age and then by score. It will cost $15 to play, but if you sign up a group of 4 it will be $50 for the group saving $10 dollars.  Sponsors will be on every hole with many side games and prizes!

Most importantly all of the proceeds will be going to the Cedar Falls Junior Golf Program, which stresses spreading the game of golf, teaching kids the right way to play, and many life lessons which are related to golf.

Hot New Sport!

What is the hottest new sport to hit the Cedar Valley???

FOOTGOLF!

A mixture of soccer and golf, very creative. Footgolf has been around since 2006 but became an official sport in the United States in 2011. So everyone is wondering how could you possible mix these two sports together. Well, you make a really big golf hole and play golf without clubs and just kick a soccer ball. Seems easy enough right? However, the rules of golf still apply, you have to kick the ball off of the ground the whole time for starters (NO PUNTING!). You have to play the ball as it lies, no fixing lies or foot-wedges…ha… Other rules like water hazards and unplayable lies are played the same as they would be in golf.

Now that you have a general idea of what it is the only place to actually play is at Walter’s Ridge here in Cedar Falls. The next closest place is in Dubuque. Cedar Falls decided to put this in last winter and once the snow melted they put the big cups in and have had great success over the last 5 months. However, there has not been a tournament yet… which is in the works right now!
